Resin Coated Sand (RCS) is a foundry sand that has been pre-coated with phenolic resin and a hardener. When heated, the resin cures to bond the sand grains into a strong, rigid mould or core. RCS is widely used in shell moulding and core making for producing high-precision metal castings with smooth surface finish and tight dimensional accuracy.
We manufacture two main product ranges: (1) Regular Grade Resin Coated Sand with 11+ sub-grades covering automobiles, hydraulic valves, camshafts, copper alloys and tractor engines (AFS 50-100); and (2) Washed Silica Sand in multiple AFS grades. We also develop customized RCS formulations on request.

Resin coated sand for foundry use is coated with phenolic resin (not epoxy) — phenolic resin withstands the high temperatures of molten metal and decomposes cleanly during shake-out. Epoxy resin coating is generally used for non-foundry applications like steel reinforcement bars. Swastik Sand specialises in phenolic resin coated sand for foundry castings.
